Most people in the healing arts love what they do. Being in service to other people and alleviating suffering is deeply satisfying.
But it is not always easy. When we offer ourselves in service to people who are stuck, we bring ourselves vulnerably to their pain. We cannot keep ourselves completely separate from it, and to be honest, it can get messy!
This is definitely true for Systemic Constellations work. By the very nature of what we do, we expose ourselves and our clients to a history of loss that has perhaps been buried for some time. There’s no getting around it. And that means the energies of trauma become present, and something we need to be able to effectively work with in a way that keeps us well.
Of course, as human beings, we constellators also have our own history of pain. We can’t just leave it behind every time we work with someone. We show up with our own patterns, losses and even cultural blindspots. This means that each time we work with someone, our own shadow is there, too. Whew!
As we do this work, we grow. We even heal. And sometimes, we need help as we discover more nuanced aspects of the work; elements that reflect our own pain; or clients who are particularly suffering and can be challenging.
That is why I invite you, if you are a constellation facilitator at any level, to consider joining my Advanced Training that starts next week. With experienced mentorship and the collegiality of a strong cohort of peers, we can continue to develop mastery on behalf of our clients, and a more sophisticated kind of care for ourselves.
You might also be interested in advanced topics, like organizational work, trauma-informed constellations, nature constellations, and much else.
And finally, you just might like some safe, advanced practice. In an advanced training, we can take the time to practice deeply, reflect on what we are doing, and strengthen ourselves in the process.
We start next week! NOW is the time to take a look at the details and to register. Go to Advanced Training, and see if this program is the right fit for you.
It is my great honor. What have you discovered, or may be in the process of discvoering, about mastery and shadows? Post your stories on my blog, below.
