Wherever you go, there you are, the old saying goes. In a sincere attempt to get ourselves out of a life-depleting rut, many of us move, or change our jobs, or leave a relationship, only to find we carry the same patterns with us into the new context. So frustrating!
When that happens, we learn that the context — as important as it was — really wasn’t the source of our unwanted pattern. Our pattern is sustained by something deeper-rooted than any context, and the answer may be to stay where we are so we can bring attention to how we shape our experience, and then find ways to change that end up making a difference we need.
But once in a while, a big change in life really is what is needed. In hindsight we can see — when I left that career, when I started that grad school, when I became a vegetarian — that’s when we found new leverage to become our true selves even more, and we found ourselves on a better trajectory in life that has lasted.
After all, we see this show up with unexpected big changes — we get laid off, the partner leaves us, we have a health scare — and these often motivate other lasting changes that we couldn’t create without the larger forces that took us to that new place.
I am facing that question now: Is it time to make a big move to allow new life to come in? Or, will I just carry the old life with me, wherever I go? Is it more faithful to root myself and re-commit, or to shift to what might be the more authentic path? At these times, we wish we had the gift of prophecy, to show us the way. Instead, what we have is our sincere attempts at true discernment, humble and yet also ambitious, and all the while, intentionally connecting with those larger forces, systemic and transpersonal.
When my constellation students join a constellation training, these are sometimes the questions they are asking. For some, the training is right in line with their life direction. But for others, it’s a serious turn in the road. Wherever it might land in your life, if you’ve been thinking about diving into a training, and you’ve been following my work for a bit, I warmly invite you to check out the details ASAP and consider joining us.
We have a lovely group already formed, and have several more spots for folk who are ready to jump in. This is a GREAT time to do this. Online trainings proliferated during the pandemic, but in the coming year, many will be returning to in-person events. If online learning is best for you, here’s a good option.
We all practice, we all discuss, we all learn together. And every year, people leave with deep friendships and colleagues that continue for years. One of the classes from two years ago is still meeting!
We start October 8th, so now is the time to check it all out and see if it’s a fit. $250 off through September 13th!
And for everyone, I invite you to reflect: When have you tried a big change, and you just found yourself in the same spot? Or, when have you did something different in your life, and really did make the difference? I invite you to share on my blog.
